Folkestone Town Council has submitted its “Stage Two” bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for a £1.95 million grant to help renovate Folkestone Town Hall and create a museum and cultural hub. The Council had already won HLF funds to help in developing the bid and has been offered £50,000 match funding by The Roger De Haan Charitable Trust towards the project.
The project is known as Folkestone’s HEART (Heritage, Education, Art, Regeneration, Tourism) and is being led by Town Clerk, Jennifer Childs supported by the councils Heritage Support Officers, who said: “We want the Town Hall to be a vibrant community space that will inspire, educate and engage locals as well as visitors to the town. The central location of the town hall makes it the perfect venue. We want to protect and promote our wonderful heritage for future generations.”
