Join us after hours at the museum to celebrate 100 years of ‘Roman Folkestone’! S.E. Winbolt’s weird and wonderful book all about the excavation at the East Wear Bay villa was published in 1925. We’ll be running an evening of activities to commemorate the villa and its importance in our first adults only late event. Roman Folkestone put our town on the map in the 1920s – and we’re still learning more about the villa every year. It’s only proper that the museum celebrates its 100th birthday!

Dr Lesley Hardy will be leading a talk all about the excavation at East Wear Bay and its significance – and the huge impact Winbolt’s work had on the field of archaeology. There’ll be a fiendish quiz in the galleries, a chance to make your own ceramic oil lamp to take home, replica objects to handle, and a chance to chat to the curator about the objects we have on display. You can even enjoy a glass of wine during the event – but you’ll need to pre-book it when you buy your ticket.

Tickets cost £5 plus booking fee – if you order an alcoholic beverage (or non-alcoholic equivalent) it’s £10 per person plus fees. Buy your ticket at: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/booking/t-nolqzra
